BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim said world-class workplace safety along with RMG industry’s remarkable achievements in sustainability have made Bangladesh a preferred choice of global buyers for sourcing. in clothes.

“With unprecedented initiatives involving government, ILO, brands, buyers and contractors efforts and investments, Bangladesh RMG Industry has made exemplary achievements in ensuring workplace safety in RMG industry covering fire, electrical and structural integrity seamlessly, earning global praise and recognition,” he said.

The Vice President of BGMEA said this while speaking as a special guest at the launching ceremony of the 8th International Fire and Safety and Security Exhibition 2022 hosted by the Electronic Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB) in Dhaka on August 27.

Director General of Fire and Civil Defense Services Brigadier General Md Main Uddin attended the program as the chief guest, a press release read.

FBCCI Vice President, Md Amin Helaly, was also present on the program chaired by ESSAB President, Zahir Uddin Babar.

In his speech, Shahidullah Azim said the garment industry has gone through extraordinary challenges and successfully overcome them, bouncing back even stronger each time.

“Besides workplace safety, Bangladesh has the highest number of green garment factories with 167 factories LEED certified by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). While we are proud of our outstanding achievements in workplace safety and environmental sustainability, we are also committed to striving to maintain those achievements,” he said.

Shahidullah Azim emphasized on producing safety equipment in Bangladesh following international standards.

He thanked ESSAB for consistently organizing the International Fire Safety and Security Exhibition, as it brings together safety equipment suppliers, professionals and users under one roof for fruitful interactions.

It plays an important role in introducing the latest fire safety equipment and knowledge to industries, thereby raising awareness among industries, he added.

The 8th Fire Safety and Fire Safety Exhibition will be held from November 24 to 26 at the Bangabandhu International Convention Center (BICC) where world-famous fire safety equipment brands will participate.
