With a bold, focused and cohesive collection, he paid homage to the late American fashion illustrator and photographer Tony Viramontes, whom Scott considers “an unsung hero, because he’s not a household name…But he had a such influence in pop culture because of his work.”

The designer transferred his energetic strokes and vivid color combinations directly to garments, turning them into canvases of motion that evoked some of illustrators’ most important works for high-profile magazines and album covers, like “Control ” by Janet Jackson from 1986. .

Working with the Viramontes estate to secure the rights to his images, Scott applied abstract faces and patterns to the tailoring, as seen on a striking series of suits ranging from a two-tone door opener to a blazer jacket. elongated and oversized. Overall, the silhouettes had contrasting proportions, from cropped shirts and denim jackets to roomy hoodies and anoraks; from casual bermudas to tapered pants tucked into biker or combat boots, plus pleated skirts and sarongs thrown into the mix.

While the graphics were the immediate focus of attention, the entire collection channeled the Buffalo Boys attitude. The reference to Viramontes’ work for The Face magazine on the key 1980s fashion movement led by Ray Petri, matched the fearless message of self-expression that Scott always pushed during his tenure at Moschino.

The combination of tailoring and workwear with leather and vinyl pieces gave the benchmark grit, toughness and sense of rebellion, amplifying the collection’s visual strength. In the end, the mix best served the purpose of Scott’s presence on Milan’s June calendar: expressing the true power of his menswear, freed from the shadow of the flamboyant female counterpart. Benan has branched out into a bolder color than before via a bright insolation red. Entitled “Sun-Dyed in Texas”, the collaboration takes place in two parts. Set up in the summer of 2021, the first segment consists of two physical installations in Marfa, Texas, which lasted six months. A stick-frame house and a series of billboards wrapped in Dickies’ signature twill fabric cast an eye-catching glow against the clear night sky. The second part of the collaboration sees the limited edition clothing collection made from the weathered material of Marfa installations.

Composed of workwear vests, two-tone carpenter trousers, jackets and overalls crafted in shades of beige, brown, gray and indigo, each piece is numbered to highlight its exclusivity. A highlight of the collection is a Dickies work vest with a New York City graphic on the back. The collection is completed with shirts, graphic tees, hoodies, hats and socks.

Not only does such a garment exist, but it even has a special name: a jacket! Like many newly relevant sartorial inventions (the megging, the jort), it is a hybrid garment (shirt plus jacket) well suited to meet contemporary needs.

Specifically, the need to walk through an air-conditioned airport in the very hot months, not get crushed being crammed into a tiny seat for many hours, and then come out ready for public viewing at the other end. Although it works equally well for trips from home to the grocery store for a morning milk run, or from home to the office for a daily commute.

It’s a more sophisticated alternative to the sweatshirt, without sacrificing ease. And it works perfectly well on sweatshirts, leggings and yoga pants, meaning you can have your comfy clothes stretchy and look a little cooler too. It is also a gender-neutral garment, equally popular among men and women.

Truth be told, the shirt is not, in fact, a new invention. It has its roots in late 19th century French workwear, in particular the bleu de travail, a blue shirt worn by workers to protect their day clothes. (Another name for the garment is the chore coat.) Later it was adopted by the U.S. Army, which issued CPO jackets to first petty officers in the 1930s. From there it made its way to Army-Navy surplus stores and therefore in all our wardrobes.

Its hallmarks are oversized proportions, best worn over a T-shirt, turtleneck, vest, or similar underlayer; large patch pockets; and snaps or button closures. New Delhi: Myntra employees are gearing up for the 16th End of Reason sale starting June 11. The biannual event is said to be the biggest fashion festival in the country. It should feature brands and choices across all categories, from apparel and home decor to beauty, personal care and footwear.
For the first time, customers can get `500 cashback on their first order and free shipping for the first 4 orders, which will be fulfilled by Myntra’s Kirana partners. This event helped Kirana partners generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 27,500 people across the country. This is a 10% increase in jobs created compared to the last edition in December 2021. The platform also expects more traffic from Tier 2 and 3 cities, as well as metros.
Amidst this, Myntra’s new CEO, Nandita Sinha, spoke to ET Now, which also happens to be her very first TV interview after taking the job. She noticed that users on the platform were consuming fashion at a rapid rate compared to previously and she expects that very motivation to fuel the end of reason selling this time around. But has soaring inflation pinched consumers’ pockets? Does he spend the same amount on discretionary purchases online?
