El Cajon Seeks Comments on West Main Plan

El Cajon is preparing a Caltrans grant application to spruce up West Main Street at the entrance to downtown. The project will install a roundabout, road network, construct separate cycle lanes, improved sidewalks, new lighting and landscaping. Community workshop on the future park

La Mesa is hosting its second community workshop on conceptual designs for the future Waite Drive Park. The sale of a thrift store benefits a food bank

Santa Sophia’s St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Sale returns from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with new and used treasures of all kinds for bargain hunters. Santee hosts summer music on Thursdays

The City of Santee is hosting free concerts from 6:30-8 p.m. every Thursday through August 18 (except June 30) at Town Center Community Park East, 550 Park Center Drive. Wedding apparel featured at La Mesa Goodwill

The La Mesa Goodwill store is spotlighting bridal wear at great rates with a special bridal event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and June 19. Find wedding dresses, bridesmaid and mother of the bride dresses, as well as bridesmaid dresses and accessories as well as event decorations. Many dresses are brand designer dresses with original tags still attached. Jewelry, shoes, gloves, bow ties and tiaras will also be available. The store is at 8250 La Mesa Blvd. Dial (619) 713-2380. AAUW Chapter Installs New Officers Saturday

The La Mesa-El Cajon branch of the American Association of University Women will meet Saturday at King Hall, Foothills United Methodist Church, 4031 Avocado Blvd., La Mesa. Social activities will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the main focus being the installation of new leaders, including President-elect Vicki Spilkin, who succeeds Joan Camana. The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce is hosting an open house/mixer day for Plates, labels and more, a company that provides DMV services, vehicle tags, mobile notary service and more. Blood drives

The San Diego Blood Bank hosts these blood donation opportunities:

  • 11am-5pm Friday, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, 5555 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa, parking lot behind the Women’s and Newborn Hospital. Donors will receive a San Diego Padres Blood Drive t-shirt while supplies last.
  • 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, San Diego State University, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, Bloodmobile parked on Aztec Walk near Campanile Drive/Hardy Avenue
