The Tigers end the season on a high against the Cutters

The Brisbane Tigers ended their 2021 Intrust Super Cup campaign on a high note in the battle for 11th and 12th positions at Totally Workwear Stadium.

The Tigers won 44-14, setting up a scoring clinic over the Mackay Cutters, with the Tigers five-eighth and Intrust Super Cup debutant Jonah Glover scoring 12 points on his own, converting six of eight tries.

In what would be one of their best performances of the season, the Tigers dominated from start to finish, ending what has been a disappointing season campaign.

The Tigers were in the lead for most of the game and were the first to score after 10 minutes thanks to forward Dan Russell after hooker Haele Finau crossed the line at 40 yards.

Three minutes later, the Tigers scored again through winger Zak Taibi after a mad 40-yard run from center Solomona Faataape.

It was all one-sided for the rest of the first half with tries for Tigers Kea Pere, Mitch Frei and captain Darren Nicholls. Nicholls turned a corner by scoring his 400th point in the Intrust Super Cup.

Tigers winger Ronald Philitoga opened the scoring in the second half, before Mackay again took advantage of a 6 on their line to score their first points thanks to Kyle Krisanski-Kennedy in the 49th minute.

The Cutters then enjoyed a great field position and eventually scored their second try with a cross kick to winger Jake Riley in the 65th minute.

The Tigers recovered the ball and scored the next try thanks to forward Jack Peoples, after impact player Oliver Pascoe unloaded the ball 10 yards from the try line.

Mackay would get the next points thanks to five eighths after a show and go on to score off the posts.

The unfinished Tigers would score the last try of the game after a few quick hands, via forward Sam Lavea coming off the famous “nudie run” for the 2021 season.

The Tigers finish the season in 11th position ahead of the Cutters who finish in 12th position.

A season of confinements, canceled and postponed matches, congratulations to both parties on a fantastic season.
