Turkey’s clothing exports soar 25.72% in Jan-Sep 21
By category, exports of apparel and knitted accessories (HS Chapter 61) earned $ 7.792 billion in the first nine months of the current year, registering a strong growth of 35 percent from 5.770 billion dollars earned during the same period of the previous year. .
Exports of non-knitted clothing and accessories (HS Chapter 62) were valued at $ 5.572 billion, an increase of 14.7% compared to exports of $ 4.859 billion in January-September 2020.
Apparel exports from Turkey grew 25.72% year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2021, according to data from the Turkish Institute of Statistics and the country’s Ministry of Commerce. In January-September 2021, Turkey exported clothing worth $ 13.364 billion, compared to exports of $ 10.630 billion in the corresponding period of 2020.
Among products other than clothing, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS Chapter 57) jumped 34 percent to $ 2.385 billion during the review period.
Exports of old clothing and other textiles and rags (HS Chapter 63) also increased by 19.7 percent to $ 2.109 billion between January and September 2021.
At the same time, Turkish imports of cotton, cotton yarn and cotton textiles (HS Chapter 52) increased significantly by 34.2 percent to reach $ 2.553 billion.
