BRIDGEPORT SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH – Bridgeport ISD plans to begin its search for a new district chief in October, Acting Superintendent Skip Casey said this week. The timing of the research is intentional, as the superintendents of Bridgeport and Decatur ISD stepped down this summer. During the BISD board update on Tuesday, Casey said Bridgeport will wait until Decatur finishes its research before starting its own. “I recommend getting together to set a date, October, mid-October and open the post,” Casey said. He said he expects Decatur ISD to complete its research by October or November. Even though BISD can wait for a new superintendent to be appointed across the Big Sandy, Casey said districts may attract different candidates. “They have done each other a disservice,” Casey told the board, referring to Decatur ISD. “There will be some really good people who apply here but who don’t apply there, I guarantee that.” Find out more in the Wise County Messenger Weekend on newsstands today.
