Vault by Vans presents a four-part collaboration with END. and brain
Vault by Vans recently revealed their three-way partnership with END. and Mastermind for a shoe capsule that “celebrates the importance of fine detail and subcultural style”.
Focusing on two of Vans’ most iconic styles, the Sk8-Hi and the Old Skool, each silhouette has been transformed by Mastermind founder Masaaki Homma in a way that emphasizes intricate detail and the designer’s penchant for the punk style.
Arriving in a moody black and white color scheme, the Old Skool is reworked to give a cut-and-paste look, with uppers constructed from premium suede, leather and canvas – with a splashed checkerboard pattern to the side. lateral. Other details include Mastermind branding throughout, exposed foam – which has been worked into the collars and side stripe – and a lined tongue that gives the appearance of two sneakers merged into one.
The same experimental approach is used on the Sk8-Hi, with detailed shanks with skull markings and zippers to reflect Homma’s rebellious sensibility. The unique unit, meanwhile, is deconstructed, with its split fox stripe, layered and misaligned to adhere to the collection’s cut-and-paste inspiration.
Along with the aforementioned versions, the shoe pack comes with a black and white skate deck, dressed in skulls printed on either side.
